CSI - Adopt a Cadet
|
With an estimated 41.6% of South African 18 to 24 year olds not in employment, education or training, it is more important than ever to develop the careers of these, the custodians of South Africa's future. Afrizan Cadet Academy is committed to empowering South Africa’s youth through employing and training talented equity candidates. Integral to the Academy, is the hope that Cadets find permanent employment through the experience and exposure gained through our clients. Clients are welcome to invest further in the Academy as part of their Corporate Social Investment initiates. |
Corporate Social Investment InitiativesCorporate Social Investment (CSI) initiatives constitute an investment in society – in the market to which you sell, and in your future workforce. As such, these initiatives make great business sense. With the introduction of the Social Responsibility Index in the JSE, as well as BEE rating incentives, CSI initiates are being considered less as optional and more as a necessary function of good corporate governance. The broad-based BEE codes of good practice allow five points for CSI initiatives with a target spend of 1% of net profit after tax. As if the huge need in South Africa was not incentive enough, this affords companies the opportunity to make a difference to the welfare of its many needy organisations and individuals while contributing to their BEE ratings. Often a large stumbling block for companies is who best to entrust their CSI budgets too. Corruption means that it is often difficult to be sure that your contributions are being used to the betterment of their intended recipients. The Academy offers clients the chance to invest in individual Cadets as part of their CSI initiatives, with the assurance that they are making a tangible difference to the lives of very deserving individuals. As Cadets are not directly employed by the client, any such spend will qualify as a part of their CSI initiatives. By funding a particular Cadet’s continued education, clients contribute towards the development of individuals, many of whom were unable to further pursue their educations due to financial constraints. OutplacementThe Cadet Academy seeks to develop Cadets to a point where they are eligible for permanent placement within our client environment. To ensure that Cadets are able to meet employer expectations and do so with confidence, this process will take six to twelve months. This means that, should a permanent opportunity become available, you may decide to offer a Cadet the position secure in the knowledge of their capabilities and work ethic – indeed, having conducted the most thorough interview possible. |
